Multiple teams ‘interested’ in trading for DeAndre Jordan
The Los Angeles Clippers big man has come up in numerous trade discussions in recent weeks as other teams are looking for that final missing piece to help them reach the playoffs.
The 29 year old centre is hitting averages of 10.3 points and 13.7 rebounds per game this season.
With the Clippers dropping nine straight games (until they beat the Atlanta Hawks on the 22nd Nov), the pressure is on Doc Rivers to make some changes, or find himself a new team.
The loss of Chris Paul was patched up by signing new guards, who were immediately tasked with leading the team into the playoffs. But injuries to Milos Teodosic and Patrick Beverly has meant a 6-11 start to the season.
So, why are teams buzzing around Jordan?
It’s because many people are convinced the Clippers will tank the season, with a lot of their roster either injured or sub par (due to poor trade policy and free agent signings by Doc), this could be a route they take to help them reach the playoffs once more. So, teams are looking at acquiring a realistic contract for a prime big man that can crash the glass and expose the weaknesses of teams like the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.
Whatever happens this season, Jordan may regret signing that new Clippers contract when the Dallas Mavericks came knocking a few years back.
